The Transatlantic Tea 35
Despite a trio of visiting UK Ministers to DC last week, news about Britain that is making it through to mainstream coverage here is very (very) light. Here’s the tiny top list for last week:
The Washington Examiner profiles the upcoming State Visit, suggesting British
officials might be downplaying the amount of Trump time the King has on his agenda
NYT covers the PMs meeting with ‘US social media companies’ about child safety online, saying that “Starmer’s vow to act has already drawn the ire of President Trump and other conservatives in America.” - concluding that he may be more focused on the Local Elections than on the President’s reaction to his policy priorities.
The Chancellor’s trip to DC for the IMF was covered by CNBC under the headline “UK finance minister Rachel Reeves blasts Trump administration over economic impact of Iran war”. Reeves said she was unclear what the US war aims were in Iran and that “long term damage had been done to oil and gas facilities in the Middle East.”
Britain’s surprising economic growth data for February was reported in the WSJ, quoting an analyst saying it is “good news that Britain entered the energy shock on a stronger footing than many expected.”
I may write The Transatlantic Tea, but I won’t say no to a coffee.
If you’re enjoying the read, buy me a coffee to keep the content brewing
